Great article and read about: SRT8

Q: How is the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 in snow and bad weather?
I am thinking about buying the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, I am aware of its amazing power and acceleration, but is it built like all the other jeeps? How is it in the snow and bad weather? And I see that its a 4×4, but is that full time or can you put it in 4×4 low? Thanks.

A: The SRT8 Grand Cherokee is AWD, not 4WD. There is no lockable 4WD mode. If all you are doing it city driving, you should have no trouble.

It does have very large, wide tires that will push the snow instead of cut thru it, but I dont think you are buying this vehicle to really drive it in mud or snow, are you.

And to the moron who said by a Ford…I would put the capabilities of a Jeep against any Ford SUV and see who gets to the top of the mountain first. JEEP = 4X4. Always has, always will.

Q: How can you make the 2009 dodge challenger srt8 weigh less?
What parts can you remove from the 2009 dodge challenger srt8 to make it significantly lighter?

A: Nothing will make a big difference. You’ll hear some people say remove the spare tire, take out the back seat, stuff like that – taking 100 lbs off the car won’t make a noticeable difference in a car that weighs more than two tons. And what would you do if you removed the spare and then had a flat?

If you want a lighter car, buy a Mustang or wait for the Camaro.

EDIT – as I expected, you did get an idiot that thought removing the back seat would be a good idea. You will NEVER notice the difference in performance, and now your 5 seat coupe seats 2. Moron.

Q: What performance parts should i add to my charger srt8?
I’m trying to get a better 0-60 time on my charger srt8…Anybody have any good suggestions to add on to my car?

A: adding a programmer to it is the most gainful amount of power you will get from it,their really expensive, but what they do is allow you to dial in the timing as well as the spark advance and also allow for more richer fuel mixture, this all combined will increase the amount of horse power, then once that’s done to it you can add a few bolt on items such as a cold air intake and even nitrous if you want to,then you,ll see a high gain in horse power and speed.good luck.

Q: Does my Dodge Charger SRT8 HAVE to use 91 octane?
I am getting a SRT8 Charger and I have read that the recommended fuel is the 91 octane. Will it screw up my engine to run 87 or even run 87 with octane booster? My truck has 10.1 compression and runs great on 87. THe SRT Hemi is only 9.8 or there about.

A: not reccomend but required. the car is tuned for it and because of that wont run properly without 91+ octane.

Octane boost doesnt help much unless you put in a few bottles every fill up.
and your compression has nothing to do with it its all about timing.

when your fuel combusts

Q: were can i rent a srt8 red dodge charger or a 2008 red ford mustang shelby in the houston area?
i am looking to rent a red srt8 dodge charger or a 2008 red ford mustang shelby for an especial occasion in the houston area?
please let me know if any ideas?

A: You might try Galleria Exotics. It looks like they may have what you need. The price they quote is actually not bad. Just realize they usually have a Rev Limiter on these. If you rev them up too much they have a kill switch that cuts it off, and your have to pay to have it picked up. Other than that, they are loads of fun and for a special ocassion, worth the $500 plus insurance.

http://www.galleriaexotics.com/

Here is another site as well:

http://www.rentexoticcars.com/houston.html

I rented one for my wife’s 50th birthday, and it was the biggest surprise of her life. The picture I have of her shows her grinning ear to ear, and you can see it through the windshield. Best picture I ever got of her, and she still talks about it.

Q: Would a used SRT8 Magnum be a good college car?
Well, I have an opportunity to purchase an SRT8 Magnum for college. I will be going to college this fall. I have experience driving other powerful cars regularly, such as a 2003 SVT Cobra and a 5.7L 300C. The Magnum has 34,000 miles and is in pretty darn good condition.

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – autoinsurance.noneto.com

Q: When a car has a dual exhaust do you need to buy two mufflers if you want to get new ones: ex.Charger srt8?
I bought a charger srt8 and wanted to add the new Flowmaster’s Super 44’s and I wanted to ask if I needed to buy two mufflers or just one for the exhaust. I’m trying to get a deeper throatier sound, if any advice to getting that i appreciate it.

A: the srt-8 comes with dual exhaust so if you want to change then you,ll have to buy two mufflers for it,those are nice cars ,but don’t always sound the best from the factory, adding 44,s to it will help it sound a lot better, good luck.

Q: What is the difference between Jeep grand Cherokee srt8 2006 and 2007?
I know that the years are different, don’t have to point out the obvious but any specifics different about the two?

A: No specific differences.

Q: Is it normal for the 07 Jeep GC SRT8 to make an odd noise when turning off the car using remote start system?
It’s a brand new car that we are looking to buy from the dealer. They say it’s normal something about the system needing to reset. I don’t know how to describe the noise, kind of like a single clank right when you turn the car off remotely.

A: i dont think so. what kind of noise is it like an engine noise or, an audiable sound like a beep. more info needed. and if it is engine then take it in.

Q: How much does a Brand new Dodge Challenger SRT8 cost in Mexico?
Because I plan on joining the army and use my signing bonus to buy a new car. I also want to save some money.

A: depends who is buying it…….drug dealers pay cash, so they’ll look for a deal……..a regular working man won’t have the pesos or credit, so he’ll get stuck paying more.

Q: Can I put a dodge viper srt10 engine in a dodge charger with a srt8 HEMI?
They are both dodges so it should be possible.

A: I’m sure it’s possible, but with some hefty modifications. I’d first make sure that it will fit in the engine bay. Then I’d find a computer wiz who can get the car’s computer to talk to the v-10’s computer. It will probably run but the transmission might not shift. We ran into this at a shop I used to work at when we installed a v-8 in a Prowler.

Q: How much would a down payment on a Dodge Charger SRT8 be?
I looked online and found one i like and the price for it is $27,748. So how much do you think the down payment on it would be?

A: Downpayment can be anything you want it to be. Just keep in mind that the lower your downpayment, the higher the COB ( cost of borrowing ) will be as you are paying more in interest charges as well as possibly even a higher interest rate.

Some places ask for a minimum of 5% down, others say no-money-down. I would suggest putting down as much as you can comfortably afford so you pay less interest on the loan.

Nice car BTW

Q: What do you think of the Dodger Charger srt8?
i think it is awesome, it is very fast with the 6.1 L v8 425 hp hemi and 4 doors so it is also very roomy.

perfect for someone who wants to have a fast sports car and have room for the passengers in the back.

what do you think? do you like them?

A: I don’t think much of it, to me the car lacks focus, big car with a big engine. Its more of an image car, too heavy to be a performance car, too heavy and with ponderous handling to be sporty. Old school technology.

Q: Will a 300C SRT8 with snow tires make a huge difference in the snow?
We have previously owned a 300C that was terrible in the snow. It was RWD and I believe it had all season tires. We loved the car so much that we’re now getting the SRT8 version. Will this one be any better in the snow if we added snow tires? The last one couldn’t even get up the driveway…

Thank you!!

A: Snow tires will make a big difference. I recommend the Blizzak (I’m not sure of the spelling) snow tire which is avaailible with snipes (small spikes built into the tire). You may want to consider purchasing 4 snow tires.

Q: How much should i pay for a 2006 srt8 jeep?
It has 36,000K miles on it. the dealer is asking 30,000. Is that a good price? Or do you think i can talk him down a little? A lot?

A: I wouldn’t pay more than 25k for that car. However they are 50k new, so 30k is pretty reasonable. I just usually pay bottom dollar for my vehicles, I find the best deals I can.

Q: How can you make the 2009 dodge challenger srt8 weigh less?
What parts can you remove from the 2009 dodge challenger srt8 to make it significantly lighter?

Q: Am i the only one that likes the dodge challenger srt8?
why is it that every time i see a video on youtube of the dodge challenger srt8, some crappy honda or some ghetto car beats it and then people on the forum try to say that the honda is stock!

does any body know of a video that shows the srt8 winning?

personally i think the challenger is kickass!!!

A: I love it also, wish I could fit one into the old budget.

Q: I have a choice between 2 cars. Which one should I get, the Dodge Challenger SRT8 or the 2010 Mustang GT?
My cousin has a 1989 5.0 Mustang and everyone else I know has a mustang, but I really like the Dodge Challenger SRT8. I dont know what I should do.

A: Dodge Challenger SRT 8 hands down.

Q: Challenger SRT8 vs Camaro 2SS what would you get and why?
Dodge Challenger SRT8 vs Chevy Camaro 2SS
what would you get and why?
Hey i’m getting my license in a few weeks and i’m wondering what should i get
a Dodge Challenger SRT8 or a Chevy Camaro 2SS

A: I’d take the camaro because of looks. They are both fast cars.

But I’m pretty sure you’re parents are not going to drop 50K on a car for new driver, especially one that has that much HP.

Q: What is the best New Muscle Car for the money: Mustang Shelby, Camaro SS, Charger SRT8 OR Challenger SRT8?
Forget the overpriced Corvette.

I’m torn between the Camaro SS and Challenger SRT8-both looks and performance are kick ass!

A: All are good cars. Pick the one that YOU like best.

The Charger SRT8 costs $38,180
The Challenger SRT8 costs $41170
The Mustang Shelby costs $45000
The Camaro SS is a bargain at $30,995

The Vette isn’t all that much over priced as you say. A base model Vette is only $4000 more than the Shelby and will out perform all of the others on your list.

Personally, I pick The Camaro SS. With the $15,000 you save from not buying the other cars on your list you could ship your new Camaro to Lingenfelter Performance Engineering and have their 570 HP TVS2300 Supercharger Package installed. You would sure suprise the heck out of the Mustangs, Chargers, and Challengers that you may run across.

If my budget would allow the Vette would be my second choice.

Q: Who owns or will own the 2008.75 Dodge Challenger SRT8?
Who has purchased the new 2008.75 Dodge Challenger SRT8 and what do you think about it?
We just got our first one at our dealership and I was wondering what people thought of it.
It is one of the few that hasn’t been sold yet and I wanted some testimonials from actual owners to assist when demostrating the vehicle other than your normal 0-60, stylish retro look, quarter mile mumbo jumbo!
Thanks ahead of time.

A: I wish I could afford to buy one. We also just got our first one (black in color) at the dealership I work for, and I tell you what that is one awesome looking car.

Q: Have you seen any 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8’s on the street?
I know they are out but i’ve yet to see one on the street. If you have seen one on the street or at your local car lot, let us hear your story and your thoughts.

A: I have seen one.
What I like about the Dodge Challenger SRT8:looks supercool
What I hate about it:engine is too loud

Q: Have your heard of the car Challenger srt8?
My dad ownes 1..
rick b.. dont be rude!

A: yes the srt8 is one of the nicest ones they build, and there’s a few of them around where i live at,i can look ot my window on a clear morning and see the one my neighbor owns, your dads got a nice car.good luck.

Q: what is faster a 2007 dodge challenger srt8 or a 2006 dodge charger srt8?
i need help i need to know what to buy please stock srt8 answers only

A: Charger is a boat too…duh they both weigh about the same

Charger SRT8 -4150lbs
Challenger SRT8 – 4167lbs

It depends on the gearing and if you get auto or stick.

I’ve seen stock Chargers SRT8’s run 13.2.-3 in 1/4 mile and I’ve seen Challengers run 13.3 – 5 in 1/4 mile.

Oh and by the way there is no 2007 Challenger. Challengers went into production in 2008.

Q: How much will the 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 cost?

A: all of em are already sold and for a premium over sticker.

Q: How much will the Dodge Challenger SRT8 cost?

A: Dodge lists an MSRP of $40,095. Since the vehicle has been eagerly anticipated, I would assume that dealerships will be adding a substantial markup on top of the $40K sticker.

Q: 2008 dodge challenger SRT8 top speed?
anyone know what the top speed a 08 challenger SRT8 can hit is?

A: Electrically limited to 170 mph

Q: should i get a 2008 dodge challenger srt8 or dodge ram3500 cummins?

A: I have had a 08 Challenger SRT8 on order since Feb 07. Firstly, Good luck in finding a 2008 SRT8 Challenger and secondly, good luck in getting one for MRSP….you will be looking at easily a +$10K market up for an SRT8 (min. $50K).

Having a 06 Magnum SRT8 (summer car) and a 04 Dodge Ram 3500 CTD with performance upgrades. I enjoy both vehicles but I would have to say my truck is the more enjoyable and most practical of the two vehicles as I haul my family around in it, haul our 5th wheel, and best thing I enjoy is the look at sports car owners when I blow there doors off.

The Dodge Ram 3500 you can have the best of both worlds….HP(lots of performance upgrades) & a workhorse hauler. The cummin’s you can crank out the HP and Torque very easily with a Performance Chip, exhaust, CAI, injectors. If you want to get carried away you can get stackable chips and propane injection that can crank out the HP. Also, the CTD is a great motor long lasting! However, the drawbacks for the Diesel when a part breaks be prepared for a big bill at times! Diesels are not the cheapest to maintain when things break.

If you wait for the 2009 Challenger they will have a 6 speed manual and a possible 6.4L Hemi that will crank out +500HP.

Q: What is faster, the Saleen S281, or the 2010 Challenger SRT8?

A: truth is the mustang is lighter and has it beat, unless they lighten the challenger up some the times will be slower on it than the mustang, good luck.

Q: how long to order a 2008 Dodge Charger SRT8?
I’m looking to get a 2008 Dodge Charger SRT8. I live in Georgia and according to the dodge website there isn’t one on a lot within 300 miles. I called a couple of dealerships and they said they could get me one in a couple of days. Does this sound right? If I put down a deposit, how long until they would actually have it. Also, are they going for MSRP or more?

A: Yeah that is about right. A dealer usually has agreements with other dealers and they pull one off another dealer’s lot or just order one, but a few days sounds normal. The most you should have to wait is two weeks.

As for price, depends on the dealer. They may mark it up a bit from MSRP. Could be a few thousand more than MSRP, but then again you could find a good dealer that won’t. It’s a toss up either way. You can negotiate on the price even before you order it.

Q: Car Insurance on a 2008 Dodge Charger SRT8?
I was wondering what is a aproximate rate on the car insurance on a Dodge Charger SRT8. I am 22 years old and a good record. Any suggestions doesnt have to be accurate. Also if you have 2 cars is the rate cheaper than just 1 car.

A: yes it is cheaper to insure two cars rather than one,my cousin just bought a new charger with the hemi in it,and her insurance is well over 200 a month right now,the told her it would come down as she got older ,she doesn’t have any tickets or anything else, but to me that’s way too much to pay for insurance, but that’s full coverage also, she is also 25 years old, good luck.

Q: 2007 dodge charger srt8 need electronic throttle controle?
i have a 2007 dodge charger srt8 and need to replace the electronic throttle controle where can i get one and how much should it cost

A: everything on the vehicle right now is covered under warranty on it,so if your having any problems from it at all take it back, use the warranty while you can, they,ll repair it at no charge to you at all, good luck.

Q: I need a soft copy manual for a Dodge Charger SRT8.?
I’ve always been able to download free manuals for my cars in the past. Does anyone know where I can find a free one for a Dodge Charger SRT8? Even a manual for the engine and a separate one for the rest of the car would be ok.

A: you cant download free ones anymore for the newer model ones, you can go to dodges web site and pay for one or order a soft copy from them or a dealer can get you one for it,you can get some manuals for the newer ones on their web site but not many are available right now,you may find one for it on this site, good luck. http://www.dodge.com/webselfservice/dodge/index.jsp?screenName=service&country=us&emailUrl=goToEmailForm(‘R’)

Q: how much does it cost to fill up a 2006 dodge charger srt8?
how much does it take to fill up a tank on one of these also which gas is recommended ?

A: It takes about 17 gallons to fill it up so multiply that by the price per gallon in your area to figure out the cost.
Also an SRT8 uses premium unleaded therefore more money to filll it up.

Q: Hey I was wondering where I could get the elusive 2008 Dodge Charger SRT8 in that awesome green color?
Or I wanted to get the yellow daytona edition or the bright blue super bee. I live in illinois close to chicago, any help with dealers that have these cars would be nice!

A: Here’s EIGHT of them for sale right now on ebaymotors:

http://motors.shop.ebay.com/Cars-Trucks___2008-Dodge-Charger-SRT8_W0QQMake247a0eZDodge3f237b7QQModelYearf0c65f14Z20081774c6QQ_nkwZ2008Q20DodgeQ20ChargerQ20SRT8QQ_catZ6001QQ_fxdZ1QQ_pcatsZ6000

Get one then have it repainted exactly as you want.

Q: Do the Dodge charger srt8 and the chrysler 300 srt8 have the same engine?
I was just looking at the specs and they are all the exact same that i noticed….I know they are both made by the same corp…

A: Yes, the drive train is the same on both vehicles. The differences are in the interior and exterior.

Q: How much would a dealership pay for a (2006-2008)Dodge Charger SRT8 at a car auction?
I really want to get one. But only dealerships can buy cars for the low. I have 8 grand and could have 10 by Jan 2009. Who can I pay to go and get me the car?
I perfer the SRT8. But the RT would do for me.

A: they pay almost what loan value is on them ,people are very misguided on this part of it they think that dealers really do get these car dirt cheap and they don’t,when it goes through the sale the pay real high amounts for them sometimes, usually never less than 80% of the value, especially on a srt8 charger, those cars don’t run through the sale to cheap, usually for a fee of a few hundred bucks they will let you go with them and bid on a car,and buy it,most dealers charge a 300-500 buck fee and ask you not to tell what you actually paid for it,we went Wednesday night and took a few buyers, and all they bought was small cars, the fee is still the same though if you buy a car, good luck.,,PS i found the sale sheet for the night we went, and there was one charger that went through the sale it sold for around 24 thousand counting the sale bill on it and it was 2007 model with very low miles on it,this should give you a general idea of what one will cost you, good luck.

Moron.

Q: Dodge Challenger SRT8?
Hi,

I was thinking about buying a Dodge Challenger SRT8. It is one of the best looking muscle cars I have ever scene. Do you have an experience with the car or info and articles available?

A: You can’t go wrong in in the purchase of the Dodge Challenger SRT8. The Camaro will fit someone in the drivers seat who is about 5′1″ that weighs 90 lbs. The Challenger ride quality is superb, not to mention the power the car has at 425 horsepower, and that’s stock!

Trust me when I tell. I also agree with the first poster, I looked at that and there is good info with a good discussion forum. Stick your head in there and check it out.

Q: which is better dodge challenger srt8 or ford mustang shelby gt 500?
i want to know which car is better i heard the dodge challenger are rare but the ford mustang shelby is better i need help

A: It really depends on the year model your going to buy. My advice go for the challenger, not to mention that the you dont find many challengers roaming around. But if price is an important issue to you then the mustang is cheaper no doubt. My older brother owns a porsche 911 turbo and he wants to sell it and get a Corvette ZR1 so it depends on what you think is necessary.

Q: Dodge Challenger SRT8 6 Speed.?
I bought a Dodge Challenger SRT8 6 speed and I’m happy with it except for one thing. The clutch grabs way to high on the pedal. Is there a way I can adjust the clutch so it grabs a little sooner? You have to let the pedal out just about all the way before it will engaged. Thanks for your answers.

A: It needs to be adjusted to your liking…Right now it,s a little too tight…Your dealer should be able to help you out..Hopefully for free!!!

Q: which car is faster the 2011 mustang 2009 dodge challenger srt8 or the 2010 camaro ss i need specific info?
what are their top speeds
what are their prices new and used prices
help i cant decide which to buy helpppppppppp

A: This is one’s for the actual dealerships, guy. And I doubt you’ll be hitting the top speeds on public roads…

Q: Dodge challenger srt8 as a daily driver?
I plan to get a dodge challenger srt8 after a couple of years (when the price lowers) and is 14city/20hwy alright as a daily driver? All ima do is go to the mall, drive my mom around, go to school, and show it off ofcourse =]. So what do you guys think about that? and if i drive it in a way to save gas, would it still be alright?

PS: How long do you guys think it’ll for the 09 challenger srt8 to atleast drop to 20k?

A: I’ve got an 09 SE as my daily driver doing majority highway-style driving and it’s still a lil bit of a punch to the wallet even with a decent job/paycheck. I’d advise the at most R/T if you’re gonna use it as a daily driver. If you’re going to be doing stop and go driving the cylinder cut-off won’t register so your mileage will be far worse than you’re expecting. Judging by your grammar and typing you’re not older than 25 so insurance is going to be a b*tch also, make sure you get some quotes and factor that into your plans. The Challenger has an 18.5 gallon tank (average fill-up with the low gas light is 16.5 gal) that you’ll probably have to refill bi-weekly at best so add in gas prices.

As far as price, barring Chrysler going bankrupt for good and shutting down, I wouldn’t expect to see prices of $20,000 for at least 5 years or 80K miles. Just estimates but the only marginally comparable aged car is a 2007 SRT8 Charger and its recommended selling price is still 25,000 according to Edmunds.com. And the new Charger isn’t nearly the ‘collector’ item the Challenger is.

Whatever trim you end up with, its a cool car that always gets a ton of looks/comments. Good luck

Q: Ford Taurus?
I’m considering buying a 2001 Ford Taurus (4-door SES, flex fuel). Does anyone own/used to own this car? What has been your experience?

A: The Taurus is a good solid car. They had a large number of engine and transmission failures in the early to late 90s. Most of those problems have been corrected by the time 01 came around. The Taurus was also a mainline fleet vehicle for the rental car agencies that bought stripped down models leading to many people thinking ‘cheap rental’ whenever they see a Taurus. However, this can be very advantageous to you. You will be able to buy an excellent car for very little money. The bad public opinion led to punishing rates of depreciation. My personal experiences have been that the Ford cars are better built than GM products but had a bad transmission design through the 90s that killed resale value. Get it inspected by an independant mechanic of your choice and if it gets a clean bill of health and is a fair price go for it! For pricing information the best site is Edmunds.com. Also, be sure to pay cash for the car. Never borrow money to purchase a depreciating asset!

Accord,Camry,Altima are all decent cars but with much higher prices and bigger bills when they break. They are also alot less comfortable to sit in than a Taurus. Camry is cramped inside. Accord has wierd driving ergonomics and a back seat that leans back too far…very uncomfortable. In 01 Nissan was going broke and the Altima was barely above the Sentra in the quality dept. Nissan has since rebounded with good management now, but you dont want one that is from that vintage.

Q: ford taurus?
what are the relay schematics for a 2000 ford taurus?

A: You can find a great one in Chiltons, pick one up for 20 bucks at an auto parts store.

Q: My Ford Taurus starting to delay acceleration when I step on the gas about 4 seconds then it shoots forward?
(Ford Taurus) My car is starting to delay acceleration when I step on the gas. The delay is about 3 to 4 seconds then is shoots forward and catches up to speed. This happens any time I stop and step on the gas. It’s so bad that I don’t step on my gas to park because I don’t want my car to shoot forward and hit the car in front of me.
Could it be my Catalytic Converter?

A: it could be the fuel filter but it sounds more like the transmission fluid is low or the transmission filter needs changing.

Q: I have a 97 ford taurus. One of my wrench’s hit the positive battery terminal and now the car wont start?
I was replacing the thermostat on my 97 ford taurus. One of my wrench’s hit my positive battery terminal. Resulting in alot of sparks. Now my car will crank but won’t turn over. What could possibly be the problem?

A: Crank=”To Turn Over!” In the main Fuse/Relay Box by the Battery Check the Main Fuse & Ingnition Fuses, Check to see if you Burned Out the Starter Solenoid. Check to see if you shorted out the Fueible Link to the Alternator!

Q: How many miles would a Ford Taurus be expected to last?
I have been looking to pay cash for a second car to use for commuting, and was seriously considering a Ford Taurus.

I looked at several in including a 98,99, and 02.

The 98 has the least miles with 69k, the 99k has 100k and the 98 has 80k. However the 99 has only been a company vehicle and has a very well maintained maintenance record.

How can I determine which, if any of these is a good buy?

A: The best buy is the car that is in the best mechanical condition that has the lowest price. Mileage is irrelevant. Once you get into high mileage cars, the maintenance costs will all be the same. They will all need occasional repairs, none of them any less than the other.

So buy the car that is the cheapest, that has the best maintenance record and is in the best physical condition.

Q: How do you replace a 2002 Ford Taurus SE front headlight lightbulb?
How do you replace a 2002 Ford Taurus SE front headlight lightbulb? I have 9007 series lightbulbs to put in and need to know how you get inside the front headlamp. Its a labyrinth inside the front of this car.. Thanks!

A: It’ll only cost you $10. to have a garage do it.

Q: How much for a ford taurus 2000 transmission?
i was wondering how much it cost to put a new transmission in a ford taurus se 2000 .
plus manufactory.

A: This is a trouble-prone transmission, so if you plan to keep the car, a junkyard replacment isn’t the best idea.

The Genuine Ford rebuilts are the best and offer the best warranty 3yrs/36K miles. But they’re also the most expensive–retail price around $2,200 PLUS installation.

Your best bet is to find a reputable local transmission shop–not one of those chain rebuilders. Look to see if they are a member of ATRA (Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association). If they give you an ATRA warranty, it will be honored by any other member shop. These guys tend to know transmissions better than the chain operations.

The chains just buy rebuilts from their franchiser. The techs usually don’t get into them to find out what’s wrong. They just remove and replace.

Q: How to replace a radiator hose on 2000 Ford Taurus?
My radiator hose split on my 2000 Ford Taurus. My husband can get to the top connection but is having trouble getting to the bottom connection. Any ideas?

A: Which hose are you referring to? Is it the upper rad hose or lower rad hose? What engine does it have, the 3.0L OHV V6 or 3.0L DOHC 24-valve V6? The hose clamps on this particular car use a “squeeze-clamp” type hose clamps which can be difficult to remove, if the hose is in a difficult to access area. For this job, a special tool like the one pictured in the link below will greatly reduce the time required to service the hose clamps. Hope this helps.

Q: What is the cost of a Ford Taurus Heater core in NY state?
Ford Taurus heater has been having probs in the winter. It gets below zero and it blows warm air, then cold air. Does it pay to just replace the heater core? If the heater core is replaced will the heat work better, or should I not bother? What is the cost of a Ford Heater Core for NY state? How many hours does it take to replace the heater core?
I maintain my car, and bring it to a Ford dealership. The last time they looked at it, one Ford Dealership told me I need a new heater core, the second Ford place told me they can clean it, and see. Well they cleaned it out, and flushed it, charged me a little over $125, that was last Nov. In the summer they checked all my fluids, and said it was fine. I don’t know if I should just let them replace it, or what, since it is labor costlly, but better be safe than sorry. They estimated it about $650,plus tax, is this a lot?

A: Always look at cheapest / easiest first when repairing! heater core- basically a small radiator inside your care, behind dash, behind componets, should work, (or it leaks or it is plugged.) Since you have heat sometimes, tells me it works. Like others have said, check antifreeze level in radiator, thermostat (which opens to allow for hot coolant to circulate into radiator.) When was last coolant flush? If 3+ years, have that done with thermostat replacement. $100 or so. Can save your car’s aluminum head. Also, maybe your car’s radiator fan is coming on, sucking ultra cold air into your radiator, therefore cooling the hot coolant used to heat your car? Some people put a small piece of cardboard on front of radiator in ME. to help radiator keep heat.

Q: Is there anything different about fixing a 95 ford taurus sho starter?
Im working on my mom’s ‘95 ford taurus sho and was wondering if there is anything different im supposed to do when working on this than normal? Is there something Im supposed to do with the shim?

A: 1)Remove battery ground to avoid shorting

2)Raise the front of vehicle so there is enough space to work underneath the front of the engine.

3)Locate the starter from the underside of the car. It is near the transmission, underneath the exhaust manifold, between the engine block and the radiator.

4)Locate the two bolts holding the starter to the engine at oposite positions 2 and 7 o’clock approximately, viewed from the left side of car. The upper bolt is actually a stud with two metric sized nuts a 13mm (deep dish socket required)and a 15mm. The lower bolt requires a metric size 13mm socket
The bolts are threaded into the starter from the transmission side of the engine
First remove the size 15mm nut on the upper bolt (2 o clock position) this will allow removal of the gound strap from the engine along with the wire harness support.

5)Loosen the bottom bolt(metric size 13mm) but do not remove completely
Using the deep size 13mm socket remove the upper bolt
Next, remove the lower bolt. The starter should still be supported in its cradle at this stage but as a precaution support it by hand while you remove the lower bolt.

6)Pry the starter loose from its mounting
Lower it between the cross member and the engine – a little maneuvering is required
When you have lowered it remove the lead(s)

There are some differences as is the case with fixing a starter in other car models.

Q: How do I replace my stereo in my 2003 Ford Taurus with electronic climate controls?
I have a 2003 Ford Taurus Wagon. The Stereo is acting up in hot weather. Whenever it is really hot the speakers distort with a digital sound effect that really sucks.

I have looked into it and because I have electronic climate controls, there is no aftermarket replacement dash kits to put in an aftermarket stereo. Anybody have any suggestions on what I can do?

A: you can not replace the radio there is no kit
for that application

you fix the problem replace the factory radio
it is in the left side of the cargo area in front of the spare tire

this is the unit

http://www.oemautosound.com/pc-229-173-lincoln-sable-taurus-rcu-tunner-amplifier.aspx

Q: How do I troubleshoot my remote unlock on my Ford Taurus?
My remote unlock on my Ford Taurus stopped working so I tried to replace the battery twice with brand new battery and it still doesn’t work. How else can I troubleshoot this to see why my remote doesn’t work.

A: what year taurus? might just be able to reprogram your remote. i know in an 04 or later, you just toggle the ignition switch between setting 2 and 3 eight times, when the locks cycle themselves, press a button on the remote, and you’re done.

Q: How many miles will a 2004 Ford Taurus have?
i am planning on buying a 2004 Ford Taurus with 100,000 miles for cheap.
i would like to know if i should still buy the car or look at other cars?

A: according to the auto experts normal drving is 12-15.000 miles a year so there in the area do a carfax.com report on it

Q: will a 1998 ford taurus transmission work in a 96 for taurus ?
I have a 1996 ford taurus automatic column transmission, that needs a transmission. Does anyone know if the transmission for a 1998 taurus would work for it?

A: There is a very good chance that they will interchange as long as the engines are the same it will just need a lil more info to determine as to that info and such. good luck

Q: with regard to ford taurus, What is the major marketing decision Ford face and why is it so important?
1)Define Fords Taurus(newly launched vehicle by ford) marketing research problem based on the management decision problem?

A: The Taurus nameplate is from a generation of buyers that know the name. The 500 and Montego are early 60’s and 70″s names that the current generation of buyer has never heard of. This is the reason for the change.

This is also Mullaly’s legacy as the new CEO for Ford Motor Company

Great article and read about: 2010 Taurus

Q: Has Anyone seen the Spy Pictures of the 2010 Ford Taurus?
Not that anyone cares, but I have been hearing some people talk about seening spy pictures of the 2010 Taurus. They say it looks very sleek and has a nice design, and looks nothing like the 2008 Taurus that just came out resembling a newer looking 500. Does anyone know what sites to go on. Please let me know, and please don`t go into that Ford sucks, etc. just let me know if there are any sites that i can go on.

A: http://www.leftlanenews.com/ford-taurus-future.html

I wouldn’t know if that’s what your really looking for since I don’t keep up with the latest body styles.

Personally most cars look generic and like every other car to me these days. About the only way to set yourself apart is to be a tuner or drive a rust bucket.

Q: on the 2010 ford Taurus will their be a 3rd quarter window on the side ?
on every Taurus sens 1986 their has been a little window on the back i wonder if ford will keep up the tradition on the 2010 ford taurus?

A: The Taurus will go in for a major update early next year and adapt many of the new features from the recently launched Lincoln MKS. The car will get a much sleeker look but will still be based on the current model’s D3 platform

The third quarter window is on the new 2009 Lincoln and can also be seen on the 2010 Fusion. This appears to be a common theme to allow the rear window to roll down farther. I do not see a reason this will not be on the new Taurus. Personally, I can’t wait to see it.

Q: When will the 2010 Taurus be in Canada?
It’s coming out in July 2009 in the USA.
I was wondering if Canada is the same or later!

A: I think sometime in July or september

Q: How much do you think a 2010 Taurus will cost used in May of 2011?

A: About 17K, new I know thier about 25-30K new, but they lose a lot of value during thier first year, so you would be wise in not buying one brand new but one or two years old.

Q: How long do you think it will be until people start selling a used 2010 Ford Taurus?

A: if you want look at the hertz websites they should start selling them by the end of the year and the ford dealer will have some of them to also get on yahoo autos might see some in the next month or so with several thousand miles on them

Q: Will their be a 2010 Taurus wagon i am not talking about the Taurus x.?
ford is planing a all new 2010 Taurus.

A: The Taurus X *is* the Taurus wagon. “Wagon”is considered a negative term in the auto industry right now. Crossover = glorified station wagon.

Q: The New 2010 Ford Taurus what is the difference between these two modles?
what is the difference between 2010 Ford Taurus Limited AWD 4DR Sedan TAU05 P2J and the 2010 Ford Taurus Limited 4DR Sedan TAU04 P2F what is the difference besides money? Does Anyone know!!!!!!!

A: 4X4 traction

Q: What do you think about the 2010 Ford Taurus?
Which model is best and what do you think it is like in the snow?

A: I think that the 2010 is the best looking Taurus ever! Personally, I’m not a huge Ford fan but their new line-up looks great and they have made adjustments in their problem areas; electrical, power steering and transmission. Hands down I would have to take the SHO O O yeah! I have yet to drive one, but by their stance and wheels I would say that it handles fairly well in the snow, but the only way to know for sure is to go test drive one.

Q: Where is the Ford Taurus 2010 made?
Many auto brands such as GMC/Chevrolet have many of their models built outside the USA. Is the Ford Taurus 2010 such a car or is it totally built in the USA?

A: Chicago Illinois.

Q: IS FORD TAURUS 2010 AVAILABLE IN INDIA ?
Hello i just want to knw that is the new ford taurus 2010 car available in india ? coz im going to buy new car if u have more in mind like other model then must tell me ?

A: They should be , try calling the dealer there

Q: Will there be a 2010 Ford Taurus Police Package?
With the Crown Vic/Interceptor getting on in age and Dodge and Chevy offering police packages on their flagship sedans, will Ford offer a Taurus Police Package?

A: I don’ think so but SHO will be available.

Q: How much will the price of the 2010 Ford Taurus go down in 2 years?

A: probably $10k

Q: Is the 2010 Ford Taurus SE a good choice?
I don’t want the SHO all I need is a business car so nothing really fancy.

A: The Taurus is an excellent car, i can’t recommend it enough. Regardless of trim level you get a lot of equipment. It was considered to be Motor Trend’s 2010 Car of the year, but they chose the Fusion instead, which is another great car. But the Taurus right now is the best it has ever been before. It has the same engine and transmission as the Limited and SEL models so it is a smooth and quiet engine.

Q: Stars:What are the predictions for 2010 for taurus ascendant cancer birth date 24 april 1963?

A: bad things are gonna happen this year

Q: Check out what a lightly/moderately modded 2010 Taurus SHO runs in a 1/4 miles…?
Take a guess and then watch. 2010 Ford Taurus SHO in action down that track. I believe it has a lot more potential than this even! Please comment Ford Fans!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmALfffgEas
Only if it had a sweet sound down the track!
I understand Blaze. I like all car manufacturers beside GM.

A: dude blaze bring it get a mustang gt and drop a supercharger on it and run 11s with the best sound ever! bring it u cant compete with ford!!!

Q: will a 2010 Ford Taurus SHO Engine fit in a 2000 V6 Mustang?
I have a 2000 V6 Ford Mustang and the engine doesn’t do it for me…i want more out of it, I have the option to buy a 2010 Ford Taurus Sho engine but i want to know if it will fit or even work with a rear wheel drive car??

A: it will work but will cost you an arm and leg to do the swap…don’t do it

Q: When does the 2010 Ford Taurus come out?
I love this car. When does it come out?

A: The 1st of July they should be arriving to showrooms!… i agree great car!!

Q: Where is the Ford Taurus 2010 made?
Many auto brands such as GMC/Chevrolet have many of their models built outside the USA. Is the Ford Taurus 2010 such a car or is it totally built in the USA?

A: Chicago Illinois.

Q: Which car (if you had a the money) would you buy? The 2010 Ford Taurus or the 2011 Chevy Volt?
Just out of curiosity. I would buy the Ford.

A: They aren’t really comparable, but I’d 100% buy the Taurus.

1 – its a far superior car, design wise (although that is subjective)
2 – Taurus has the SHO variant which is still cheaper than the Volt will be
3 – SHO 0-60 rivals $80K Audis and Mercedes
4 – Volt is vaporware up to this point, SHOs are rolling off the line in IL
5 – Which one took your tax money? Why would you reward GM for doing so?

Easy to see – Taurus wins!

Q: what you think of the 09 Chevy impala and 2010 ford taurus?
to me chevy impala got a boaring look inside look not style enough ford taurus to me it a ugly car and the inside not that good I dont see what the hype over those car I take the chevy malibu then those car

A: I think the Taurus is the superior car. More power, better mileage, more modern styling inside and out, and better suspension, 6 speed transmissions, and AWD is available. The Impala has been largely the same since 2000, it’s outdated in many ways.

Q: Does the 2010 Ford Taurus brake itself?
I read that it has brake support, but it just says the brakes are precharged. Does this mean that the car will brake, if you don’t?

A: here u go man!

Active safety technology in Ford Taurus takes a giant step forward with the available new, class-exclusive* Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Warning with Brake Support. Adaptive Cruise Control is a truly adaptable feature. Activate it and it functions just like normal cruise control — with one exception. When adaptive cruise control sensors detect traffic slowing, your vehicle also slows down. When its sensors detect traffic has cleared, your vehicle resumes the set speed. Collision Warning with Brake Support helps in case an accident appears imminent. This function will alert you if it senses a potential collision with the car in front of you. A “heads-up” display, which simulates brake lights, flashes on the windshield. If you don’t react and a collision is imminent, the brakes will precharge and increase brake assist sensitivity to provide full responsiveness when you brake. Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Warning with Brake Support is available on 2010 Taurus Limited and SHO models.

Q: is ford taurus available in india by 2010 ?
is 2010 ford taurus available in india ?

A: They should be by now

Q: How well does a subaru outback do in the mud?
I’m going off roading tomorrow but on a dirt road and it rained all day today, if anyone has a Subaru outback and experience with muddy roads can you let me know how it went? Mine’s a 2001 and stick, by the way
Thanks!

A: i own a 98 outback wagon and where as i don’t go bogging with it i have had the fun of experiencing it in mud after several days of rain. it went well through it, scrubbed the belly pan trying to get out but as long as i kept the RPMs decent and didn’t let it stall i went through the mess. granted this was mud that was to become my driveway but still it proved itself. just keep in mind that you have a short bit of clearance, and if you are using the stock tire size then its 70 series tires. so you’ll be low to the ground. i installed 75 series tires on mine and gained an inch or better in the clearance. treat it good and don’t envision it as a 4×4 mudwaller.

Cheers,
James

Q: Has subaru ever made an outback with rear cargo seats?
I used to own a mercury sable station wagon that could seat 8 people (three in the front, three in the rear and two in the cargo area). I swear Ive seen a subaru outback with a similar feature before, but Im not sure how to find a used one or whether or not they even exist.
Was this an option at some point on that model?

A: The answer is no, for US model. The 3rd row seats in the outback may be an add-on cushion by the owner.

When I drove my outback (the legacy), I used to put a thin mattress and by the night time, I flip the rear seat all the way down to the flat position. Now I have a bed in the rear seat and I can stare through the dual roofs to see the stars… This is not a feature from the Subaru…but I think that is how they designed the ‘option’ for the driver to use.

Q: How do i go through the firewall on my subaru outback 2000 to install an amp?
im trying to install an amplifier kin my subaru outback 2000 without drilling through metal where can i run the wire?
what is a boot?

A: look for some boots if you cant find any you might have to run the wires under and go through an access point down there good luck.

Q: Can losing the rear spoiler on my Subaru Outback cause engine problems?
The rear spoiler busted off the back of our 2006 Subaru Outback. Now we cannot get the car out of park, the check engine light is coming on and cruise control won’t work. Is this all related?

A: If your rear spoiler had a break light in it then you may have an electrical short that MAY be causing other problems. Long shot but probable.

Q: What is the song that comes on the Subaru Outback commercial?
What is the song that comes on the new Subaru Outback commercial? It talks about love…

A: “before I knew” by Basia Bulat

Q: How is the best way to see Subaru Outback in TN?
I am not good at sales and I really like this Subaru Outback Legacy wagon. It is smaller than a SUV but still has all wheel drive and good on gas.
My problem is all the dealers are so far away that it is such a ordeal to get it there and wait that I am going to have to sell it.

I just wondered if there was a better season to sell and how to advertisve.
I really like this Subaru but the drive to dealers is to far away.

Sandy
I meant to asl sell a Subaru.

A: If I understand correctly, you are happy with your Outback but unhappy about the lack of any nearby convenient Subaru dealer and have, therefore, reluctantly decided to sell your Outback. That’s so sad.

First, I want to make sure that you understand that it isn’t necessary to have a Subaru dealer perform the periodic maintenance described in your Warranty & Maintenance booklet, like oil changes, filter replacement, etc.. Such maintenance can be performed by any competent local mechanic or repair shop. Just be sure that all of the work performed is documented and that you save that documentation. You only need to take your Outback to a Subaru dealer when you experience a problem which would be covered by a Subaru warranty.

I would imagine that now would be the best time to sell a Subaru in Tennessee. This is the season when many people start wishing they owned a vehicle with all-wheel drive, like a Subaru.

I would try to get an idea of your Outback’s value using tools like http://www.edmunds.com and http://www.kbb.com . Then I’d advertise it in my local paper’s classifieds and in any local free classifieds paper like the Thrifty Nickel.

Q: Do sti parts work on a regular subaru outback?
so i have a 09 subaru outback.
obviously not a huge tuner car.
but since the wrx sti is technically still an impreza . . . would parts still work for my car?
by parts i mean body kit/ground effects etc. (mainly exterior stuff)
and also exhaust, suspension, maybe even intake . . .
nothing huge just wondering.

thanks for your answers.
thanks.
what about exterior stuff?
that site has pretty much all performance parts . . .

A: Suspension parts may be about the only thing interchangeable. But they are designed to be quite aggressive on a heavier car so on your car, they may be way too stiff and extremely bouncy.Body kits are not going to work since the STI is an Impreza but the wade body makes it quite different dimensionally. Exhaust is also different in both the way it routs under the car and the quad tips would not work with the bumper made for one tip. And the intake is completely different. Are you thinking of buying used stock STI parts? There are plenty of aftermarket parts for your car if you search around. Try Rallitek.com for one.

Q: Subaru outback air conditioning doesnt work?
I own a 2000 Subaru outback, and this spring I turned on my air conditioner for the first hot day since last summer. What did I find, no cold air. The fan works and the heater still works. And the ac buttons light comes on, but no cold air. Radiator is full and air filter is pretty clean. What could be wrong?

A: If you were using the defrost setting on your a/c heat control through the winter then the compressor for the a/c still got use, which is good for it.
That said, there are some seals in the a/c hoses that do, over time, deteriorate and leak a bit.
Worst case scenario is the compressor is leaking.
Best case scenario it is one of the four a/c relays or a hose leak. Or the dedicated a/c belt needs to be checked for tightness and integrity.
Either way it is time to take it to an a/c shop for evaluation and repair.
Sorry it is not possible to pinpoint THE problem, but those are the usual suspects. There are other possible causes but they are much less likely to be the cause at this point.

Q: Can i change all wheel drive in my subaru outback?
With nowadays gas prices, i find it very irritating to drive an all wheel drive vehicle during the summer. I currently own a Subaru Outback Legacy 97 and for the most part i love it. However it seems kinda ridiculous to drive it in all wheel drive all the time. Is there any way that i could modify my car so that i could switch from AWD to Front or Back wheel drive? I want to save as much gas as i can lol. thanks!

A: you already get great milage why get more.and no you cant do it.

Q: Can I install seats in the trunk of a 1997 subaru outback?
I know some subaru outbacks have seats in the trunk, I am wondering if you can install seats in the trunk of a subaru outback if the car does not have seats in the trunk.

A: You sure can, you can buy the parts needed to latch everything down from the dealer or ideally pull them from another Outback. That way you can just transfer all the parts needed.

Q: What headlight enclosure should i buy to put HID lights in my 1997 subaru Outback?
I am looking to add xenon lights to my subaru outback. I need to know what all i will have to buy to make this happen

A: got to hidplanet.com forums and look for the hid university thread… everything you need to know is there…..it is recommended to do a retrofit with projectors…… you will need 2 ballasts, two bulbs, and two projectors…

Q: how to program a 1998 subaru outback remote?
I need to know how to program a remote for my subaru outback. It’s a 1998. The car didn’t come with one so I am not really sure if it can be done.

A: In ‘98 the security system and remote unlocking was generally a dealer installed option. If it is installed, there will be a light either in the dash display or somewhere on the dash that flashes when the car is locked (it should say “security”) or will be a red flashing light.

If it doesn’t have that, then more than likely it is not installed. Programming the remote involves a series of turning the ignition off and on for a few times, listening for the horn to beep, then either pressing the lock button a number of times to set the serial number of the remote or by simply pressing a button on the remote to allow the system to recognize it.

Go to the link below to read the specific instructions for your model.

Q: Who is the woman in the Subaru Outback “lost sunglasses” commercial?
The wife/girlfriend of the male character (John F. Beach) in the new Subaru Outback commercial who honks the horn and scares the bats out of the cave is who I’m trying to determine. She looks familiar, and I’m interested to find out if I’ve seen her in anything else.

A: Eleanor Seigler

Q: Is a gently used Subaru Outback a good “first car” for a teenager?
The family is currently trying to narrow it down between a Subaru Forrester, Subaru Outback, Subaru Tribeca, Hyundai Veracruz, or the Audi Q7. Which car would be best for someone who just got their license?
Which car provides the smoothest ride?
Which is safest?
Which is the most comfortable?

A: Audi Q7 would be the top for all of those questions that you asked. However, the least powerful Q7 still has 280hp. I would think I could trust my kid (if I had one) with a 280hp SUV, but that’s your choice. If you know they pay attention when they drive and notice everything, then get them the Audi. If they don’t and are just the regular teenage jackass behind the wheel that texts while driving and calls people on the phone, get them a piece of junk Honda.

Q: Why does my 2001 Subaru Outback smell like gas every time it’s cold outside?
Any time it’s cold outside, my 2001 Subaru Outback wreaks of gasoline. The fumes are so strong inside the car it will give you a headache. It’s worse when the heater is on and the car is idling. Does anyone know why this happens?

A: This is a relatively known issue with this car. What happens is when it’s cold, the fuel line fittings don’t fit together quite right, and as it warms up, they expand and refit. Below is a website that shows how to tighten the fuel line screws which seems to be a good solution. If that doesn’t work, you probably have a fuel leak somewhere, and I recommend going to a qualified mechanic or your Subaru dealer. It is normal in the cold for a car to smell a little like gas (very little!), as the mixture is richer at startup and cold cars don’t run well at startup, but it should not smell that strong. I have an ‘02 Outback that has a very slight smell sometimes in cold weather, but it goes away within 10 seconds, and doesn’t happen all the time. Hope this helps.

Q: I hear the 2011 subaru outback debuts in July. Would I get a better deal on a 2010 outback in July ?
or would i need to wait until October?

A: when the 2011 cars are in the showroom

Q: Should I get the 2010/2011 Outback?
I was looking at it and liked it. I was wondering if anyone else knows of any other cars like it. If you own one or have owned a Subaru and how u like it. Even if you know any problems with it.

A: SSSubaru is a great ride with good looks — I love mmmay Oback — the 2010 will save you money and you can deal on the price (( get firm or pit one dealer against another dealer)) .. G luck … OH ! problems with the Oback are very few … it’s a better car than most think it to be….

Q: which one would be best for my family: Audi A3, Subaru Legacy, Subaru Outback, or 2011 Kia Sorento?
2010 for all of those vehicles, except the 2011 kia sorento…..I need AWD or 4WD, and all of those vehicles have that. I am a single mom with 3 children, ages, 10, 13, and 15. I chose those 4 vehicles because they offer great MPG…..what do you think?

A: My top pick is the Kia Soreno, due to cheaper insurance compared to the Audi and Subaru. Kia has an excellent warranty available. Second pick would be the Subaru Legacy, it’s built extremely well. I’ve own a 2004 Hyundai Sonata with over 200K clocked on it and still running strong, and I also own a 2007 Subaru WRX STI, and it’s built great. Get in touch with your insurance company and get some quotes.

Good luck

Q: I know the BCS is going to start having 15 games starting is 2011 but what are the other bowls?
I was thinking
cotton
gator
outback
holiday
but anyone know? I am sure the 5 now will be included.

A: No it means that it will have 15 BCS bowl games with ESPN starting in 2011 through 2014. the Fiesta, Orange and Sugar Bowls from 2011-2014 and the BCS title game from 2011 to 2013, add it up and its 15. Its confusing I know

Q: did subaru stop selling turbo on the new outbacks? if yes, is that because you can’t do turbo with CVT?
i can’t find a turbo option on any of the new 2010 or 2011 outbacks. i have a 2006 with turbo (XT) and love it. was considering an upgrade, but i don’t know that i want to give up turbo. i saw recently that the 2010 has CVT (continuous variable transmission) – is this related to the missing turbo?

A: I believe since the new H6 motor makes similar power and torque, they are using that for the Outback and only offering the turbo on the regular Legacy.

Q: for 2010 mustang owners only!!!! 2010 Mustang as my primary vehicle in PA? What do you think about it in snow?
I am Planning to buy a V6 premium 2010 mustang. As you might already know it already has Traction control, and if i buy it, i am planning to install some Bridgestone Blizzack winter tires (the best i’ve heard of). If i am not getting the mustang, then i’ll be looking at a base model Subaru impreza (definielty not the WRX or STI), impreza outback, legacy, or Kia Forte. So please give me your feedback. BTW, i know that the mustang is coming out with new engines for 2011, but i am not waiting.

A: An Impreza would be the best in the snow hand’s down.
The Kia Forte would probably be second.
The Mustang is going to be the worst, being rear wheel drive.. but being a V6 it’s not really any more powerful than an average car, so with a good set of snow tire’s and maybe a bit of weight in the back you should be fine.
