Mustang

Great article and read about: Mustang

Q: Mustang!!!!?
I am doing a project for homeschool and I need to know the advanteges of a mustang
I am sorry the horse

A: Since you are posting in “Pets”, I assume you are talking about the horse and not the car.

As a horse, the mustang is basically a “feral” breed. They are wild, and therefore take a bit of effort to “break” and make suitable as a working animal. Additionally, being a wild breed the conformation as well as the personality traits are less consistent than they are among purebred horses.

On the other hand, being “mutts”, their genetic diversity makes them generally more hearty.

You might want ot watch a movie called “Hidaglo” if you are interested in mustangs. It is based on a true story about an ultra distance endurance rider who lived in the early 1900s and was a champion of the need to preserve the wild mustang. One of the big underlying themes was the age old question of the merits of “genetic purity” vs. “heart and soul”.

Q: mustang????????…..?
what year of ford mustang should i get?? a classic or a newer?

A:
$4,000 1998 Mustang V6

$6,000 99 to 2001 Mustang V6

$8,000 V8 1999 to 2000

$10,000 V6 2003 or a V8 2001

stick to these years and engines

Q: Can a 1997 v6 ford mustang automatic transmission fit in a 1995 mustang?
My son want to put a 1997 ford transmission in his ford mustang, his is a 1995. The mustangs are V6.

A: An auto salvage yard has cross-referencing books and can probably answer your question. Yellow pages under “Auto Parts–Used”.

Best regards,
Mike

Q: What is the difference between a Ford Mustang GT and a Ford Mustang Cobra?
I think the cobra is completely different from the mustang, but my son thinks the cobra is a type of mustang. Please discuss. Since the mustang is over 40 years old, this could be quite a discussion. Any car experts out there?

A: Cobras are high performance GT’s which are mass produced by both Ford and Shelby American Inc. Cobras are supercharged, have different decals, paint jobs, exhaust systems, and performance parts.

Q: How much would a 1986 mustang convertible insurance be?
I’m seventeen and I’m looking into getting a this mustang and I wanted to know how much it would be with a the classic car plates on? My friend has a 1979 camaro and his is only $88, but this mustang has a 5.0 so it is bigger than his.

A: I’ve shopped a lot. These gave me the best quotes for my 21yr. old son.

Be careful – his 5.0 “earned” him a ticket and now HE PAYS the insurance.

Q: What is the insurance rate on a Mustang compared to a economy sedan?
Is there a major difference in price to insure an economy sedan (ie VW Jetta) vs a Mustang V6? How about vs a Mustang V8?

A: You can compare how the insurance quotes would change, for example here – autoinsurance.noneto.com

Q: How much horsepower does a 1966 Ford Mustang have?
I am looking into buying a 1966 Ford Mustang from my friend and I was just wondering how much horsepower it was. I asked my friend but he didn’t know. I could probally find it somewhere. But this is easyer. It is a 1966, coupe, 6 cylinder, automatic transmission, Ford Mustang. It is not a Shelby Mustang. Just a standard Mustang. It needs a little work, but the engine is fine. All orignal parts. Thank you!

Q: How can I get my mustang gt to at least 400 hp without supercharging?
Hi there I have a 2006 Mustang Gt. I’m trying to get to 400 hp without supercharging it. I want to know specific parts I can get like Borla Exhausts or a Steed Cold Air Intake that will put it to the 360-400 mark. Thanks.

A: It can be done. If you stroke it to 303+ CI and get some stage II cams, you’ll have over 400 HP but of course you’ll spend about the same as you would’ve had you gone with forced induction in the first place. Catback exhausts on S197 cars is near worthless in terms of added power. The CAI with a tune will net some fair gains (10-15 HP, generally speaking) . But bolt ons won’t get you anywhere near 400 HP.

Q: How much is a 1968 mustang usually worth?
I have a 1968 mustang that i want to sell. No cosmetic damage, except for a rip in the front seat. Its an automatic and sometimes doesnt go into drive..So somethings wrong..Needs tranny work. How much would the car be worth (ballpark)? And if you know anything about tranny’s, maybe with more details you would be able to tell whats wrong with the car?
Its a 1968 mustang coupe. Its blue, paint job is about 4 yrs old. Received from an uncle when he died. He had bought it for 8000. Since then, the tranny has been acting up, and wont go in to drive all the time (will sometimes). starter and everything else good condition.

A: Try going to www.kbb.com or www.edmunds.com to get the value. There you can enter in any information & get a quote.

Q: How much is a Cessna Citation Mustang?
How much is a Cessna Citation Mustang?

A: The price of a new Citation Mustang is $2.7million.

Q: Where can I find a stock mustang convertible top for 2002?
I might be buying a mustang convertible that just needs a new top to look good.

Where can I find a top that is the same that they come with stock? [Or a better looking one without it being too expensive]

Its tan.
Well I can’t find anything else thats nice around here.

A: Just type “convertible tops” into google and you’ll get dozens of options.

The top itself is pretty cheap but install costs a fortune and it’s way more work than the average do it yourselfer can handle.

Plan on about $1,200 installed.

Secondarily, are you sure you want that car? Mustangs of that age are garbage. (Current owner of a 2000 mustang convertible with 92,000 miles.)

Q: How can you make a 67 Mustang handle big horsepower without a roll cage?
Or is a cage the only way to strengthen the unibody of a Mustang? I know subframe connectors are a joke on these cars. I am running 11.80’s, but it is a street car. I would like to build a chassis and drivetrain to handle (some day!) 700-800 horsepower. My body is already “rippled” from running the e.t. that I do. I’d like to make sure that car is rigid enough to prevent this in the future.

A: if you get into 10 second et’s i believe you have to have a roll cage to race. you should check out chassis specialty shops for proper chassis stiffening.

Q: How to get stripes on my Mustang (inexpensive ways)?
I am planning to get stripes on my Mustang but they are really expensive if i do it in some auto shop. Can i get stickers online which i can stick rather painting?

Please help me with some best inexpensive ways to get stripes.

Well its 2002 GT brown , so which stripe color goes good?

Thanx in advance

A: couple of sugjestions here reasoable priced as well. lets start with the pattern. are you planning on rally stripes ( 2 side by side accross the top?) a lazer light would be awsome for this but barring this start with simple string and run it from the front of the car to the rear pull it tight. you want this line dirrectly down the center. measure that its exactly the same from engine hood left and right sides, in the center of the roof and on the rear most part of the deck. when good, put a piece of masking tape under the string at the rear center and front and pesil a line where the the string is at. now measure from that mark outward aprx 1 foot and place another piece of tape setting the outer edge of the tape as your marker. do the same on the other side depending on how wide you want them appart try running a test line . you can use a chalk line with white or blue chalk get a friend to hold the one end on the tapes edge at the rear pull it tight and hold it tight to the same edge at top the switch and repeat from the front. you’ll have an easily removable test mark to view and shift to taste. when satisfied you have two options paint or pin stripe tape kit. the tapes are available in many different colors and aprx 4 inch wide. you have to have a trust worthy friend to help you apply this as you only have one shot at setting it on. thats why i told you of the line previously. both paint and stripe reqiure you to have a clean surface so give it a good bath. i’d advide ruffing the surface for adhesion for the tape not much needed though simple scotch brite pad staying in the area to get the tape. you could also paint the stripe with duplicolor spray paint ( it’s a better grade of spray paint )meant to touch up car paint and a large aray of colors to choose from. a bronze would look hot on your color I think, anyway you use the blue masking tape for this basiclly do the same as i said before lay out your planned stripe area, step back check it for your satisfaction width and location adjust as needed, use some mediem to fine wet dry sand paper and dull the suface to be painted for adhesion wipe with tack cloth as you must keep it lint free. tape and paper the area’s not being painted and aply a light coat of the paint from the back of the roof to the front staying 4 to 6 inches from the surface. if you can find it get one of those spray can sprayer handles it gines you better control. as you get to the front windshield (also taped and papered) spay just past where the roof meets it (less runs)do another coat this time a little heavier but still in one continuos motion and past the edge as before. do the trunk and hood in the same manner. let dry over night. I would advise purchasing the clear coat spray from duplicolor and put a coat over your stripes after it dries completely. hope this helped a bit

Q: How should i start modifying my mustang gt?
Recently i picked up a 2003 mustang gt completly stock and its an auto. I want to start modifying it to be a pretty quick street car. Any suggestions on what i should start with?

A: If you are just wanting to have a quick car, I would just upgrade to a supercharger and be done with it.

However if you plan to take this car to the strip or road course, then I would start from bottom to top, back to front.

Meaning you want to plant as much power as you can to the wheels.

Start your upgrades with LCA, UCA, 1 piece driveshaft and 3:73 gears. The next upgrades are up to you, but you always want to start with you brakes and suspension. It’s better to have a slow car that can handle very well compared to having out of control rocket.

Q: How do I swap a 1966 mustang straight 6 to a v8?
I’m purchasing my first car, and it’s a 1966 mustang with a straight 6. I want to swap the straight 6 for a 289 v8, but I need some help. I’m not really a gear head or anything so I need tips, links, books or even personal advice from you guys. I want to do the change on my own to save some cash and have the satisfaction of doing it myself. So any real advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks for the help!

A: There is a lot of work needed for this. Here is a great link that gives a lot of information on the subject. http://www.mustangandfords.com/howto/127_0412_six_cylinder_eight_swap/index.html

Just to start you would need new motor mounts, suspension, cooling, rear end. This is all pretty advanced stuff so If this is your first time really doing some major work I would get some help from some people that you trust.

Hope this helped
